To prepare Germknödel at home without a steaming basket, you can use a large pot with a tight-fitting lid and a metal colander or a heatproof bowl that fits inside the pot. Fill the pot with a few inches of water and bring it to a simmer. Place the colander or heatproof bowl inside the pot, making sure it doesn't touch the water. Then, place the Germknödel on top of the colander or in the heatproof bowl, cover the pot with the lid, and steam the Germknödel for the required amount of time. This makeshift steaming method will help you achieve the soft and fluffy texture of Germknödel without a traditional steaming basket. **
